Who Am I

Yo, my name is Ivailo. Ivailo Borisov, to be precise. I’m Bulgarian, but that will soon change, as I’m definitely not willing to spend my life around the freaking Balkans. The “pro” thing has a long story I might share another time.

I’m married and happy about it. It might not look like it, but I’m 33 and a half years old.

Ivailo

On this particular picture, I’m so tired of 15 km walking around Paris, I dropped dead as soon as we got back in the hotel. That was the day before Muse blew the shit out of Parc Des Princes, and boy, was that the greatest show in the world!

Kara

The little devil is Kara (named after guess who) – 4 years old British Shorthair. On this very picture she’s not quite happy I’m deliberately disrupting her dreams, so she’s making these sounds of annoyance. And if I go and stick a finger in her tummy, or tickle her just a bit more, she will grab my hand and bite me. But I just can’t resist and that is why you can often see scars on my hands.

I spent the last 15 years doing design – graphics, web, interface, print. Until I finally realised I’m tired and I’d rather switch to something else. Having a wide scope of interestes, like creative writing, photography, interior design, architecture, product design, game development was not that hard to give myself a clear idea what I really want to do from now on, that will bring me joy.

I want to write, invent and perfect various things. I believe I’m good at that and that is exactly what I’m going to do from this very moment on.

And well, screw hard working! It only proves your inability to properly plan, organise, and generally do things well. And honestly, I don’t believe being a hard working guy is something you should feel proud of. Plus, life should be taken easily. Hang out a bit more, spend some more time in the wild or just say “screw it, I’ll work at home today”. I don’t know about you, but that is what I decided to do an year ago. And believe it or not, it feels so much better!

I’m interested in each and every way I can make things work better, be more simple to use, and look nicer. Being left-handed for example, I can tell you a lot about how simple things can make my life easier. So, when looking at my right-handed potato peeler, I find alot to improve in it. And do it even better than Fiskars.

But I’m also one of those weird people whose mind is always buzzing and can’t get a focus onto single thing. One can’t say I could be left without an occupation even for short a while. Might be annoying for my wife, when I think of it.

I can easily put good few hours watching TV or playing games, and it might look like a wasted time, but it’s not quite like this. I gain knowledge, ideas, and methods out of everything I watch, listen, or play with. And what’s important for me, is I can implement that knowledge later on in my own projects. And speaking of gaming, for 2 and a half years now I’m hooked up to EVE. My toon is called procopy. See you in space and don’t forget to check my YouTube channel out, as I’m producing EVE videos now.

Don’t get me wrong, I do indeed have a social life. – I love piano bars, jazz clubs, and good restaurants. I travel alot and I love meeting different cultures. I don’t always like their food, but you will not see me running for the nearest KFC, nonetheless.

I consider myself a “web 2.0″ person, but definitely not a freak about it. I’m on Xing, LinkedIn, Last.fm, Facebook, DOPPLR, Twitter, YouTube, Howcast and you noodle. Drop by, I’d love to meet you there.

I’d love to hear from forward thinkers, win-win oriented entrepreneurs, and proactive persons, so we can do some idea exchange, work on some joint projects, or just have a Blackbush (not exactly that bush) or some beers once in a while. My e-mail address is pro at thedezine dot com. Feel free to say “hi” anytime.

Ya, I know – too many “I” statements…
